The Grand Point Church Story
Grand Point Church started in 1850 with a group of people hungry to share the Gospel of Jesus and expand the kingdom of God here in the Chambersburg area. Our roots are from a time period of awakenings, personal devotion to Jesus, and urgent passion to share the love and message of Jesus with as many as possible. Through many tough and ‘fiery’ ordeals, this body of believers have endured to bring the message of Jesus to new generations and to new locations around the world. Our story is a story of resilience, rebuilding, and reimagining what God can do through a group of growing followers of Jesus, who are deeply committed to pursuing His mission in our world.
Grand Point Church is a member of the Eastern Region Conference (www.erccog.org) of the Churches of God, General Conference (www.cggc.org)
“Helping as many people as possible take their next steps to find and follow Jesus Christ.”
We are a growing family that desires to see lives changed by Jesus. That’s a simple picture of who we are. Because of the way God has changed our lives and brought us into His family, we are compelled to lead others to experience the same.
Today, Grand Point Church is one church that meets in multiple locations, with a Saturday service available at our Chambersburg campus and multiple Sunday services offered at each of our Chambersburg, Shippensburg, and Greencastle campuses. All locations features live worship music and a message from one of our campus pastors.
Our guiding values
We believe that real life transformation happens as we follow Jesus Christ. We want to help everyone see their next steps and provide a balanced approach to navigating life and your spiritual journey. Here are our core values that guide us along on the journey.
We value God’s plan more than our plans.
Since He is the creator of all things, he has plans that are far greater than ours. His presence, His peace, and His promises are with us when we seek to follow His plans. We will strive to follow His plan for our lives because everything finds its purpose in Him.
(Ephesians 1:9-11, Jeremiah 29:11, Matthew 5:14-16, John 12:25-26)
We value God’s truth more than our opinions.
The Truth within God’s Word and in the person of Jesus Christ himself is our true North. It helps us to get our bearings in a world full of distractions and a multitude of voices. As we grow in God’s truth we can be sure we are headed in the right direction.
(2nd Timothy 3:16-17, John 8:31-32, John 14:6, Matthew 7:21-23)
We value God’s people more than our programs.
Life is all about relationships. Belonging to one of our programs isn’t as important as developing meaningful relationships with the people we meet in those programs. Our desire is to show honor and acceptance to everyone as we serve them in love.
(Matthew 22:37-40, Hebrews 10:24-25, Acts 2:42-47, John 17:20-23)
We value God’s mission more than our comfort.
We learn our comfort isn’t our highest priority by looking at Jesus. Our everyday moments and decisions, made consistently to honor God’s mission in our lives, will lead to a destination of becoming a fully devoted disciple of Jesus. We live to pursue His mission everyday wherever we go.
(Ephesians 2:10, Matthew 22:37-40, Matthew 28:18-20, 2nd Timothy 2:2)
